About the Job
Aptitude is hiring a Cloud Operations Security & Network Engineer (Azure) to strengthen and scale our cloud security and network operations across Azure environments. Reporting to the Engineering Security Lead, this role will ensure secure and performant infrastructure through effective configuration, monitoring, and incident response capabilities.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer with expertise in cloud security and network design who thrives in dynamic environments, values cross-functional collaboration, and has a strong focus on automation, monitoring, and resilience.
Responsibility
Security Engineering & Operations – Manage and configure cloud-native and third-party security tools across Azure environments.
Cloud Network Engineering – Design, implement, and maintain secure Azure network infrastructure (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPNs, Private Links, Application Gateways). Optimize network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Monitoring & Incident Response – Develop and optimize alerting, dashboards, and playbooks using Azure Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and other tools. Support investigation and remediation of security and network incidents.
Infrastructure & Automation Security – Integrate security controls into infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
Enablement & Mentoring – Train and support product teams on new processes, tools, and ways of working. Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement. Providing best practice and technical expertise to Engineering.
Documentation & Governance – Maintain security and network architecture documentation. Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management – Liaise with product teams and clients to ensure security and network expectations are met across project lifecycles.

Job requirements
Skills & Experience
Essential
5+ years of hands-on experience in securing and managing Azure multi-subscription environments, network and application security.
Deep knowledge of Azure networking: VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, Application Gateway, ExpressRoute, Private Link, and hybrid connectivity.
Experience with Azure Security Services: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Azure WAF, DDoS Protection, Microsoft Purview, and Security Center.
Familiarity with cloud routing, DNS, IP address management, and network segmentation in Azure.
Experience with security and monitoring tools: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender XDR, Qualys, and Netskope.
Working knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), SAML, OAuth, and OIDC.
Hands-on experience with automation tools and languages: Terraform, Linux, SQL, Python, or Java.
Understanding of compliance frameworks: ISO 27001, SOC1, SOC2.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Holds or is actively pursuing a certification such as AZ-500, AZ-700, CISSP, or CISM.
Nice to have
Information Secuirity experience
Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or other cloud certifications.
Familiarity with AWS network and security principles.
